Narconon Handles Alcohol Addiction
Alcohol is the one drug that is seemingly everywhere. Although some types of alcohol date back very far in history as being a part of religious ceremonies, and alcohol in small quantities does possess some medicinal value, it is generally grossly overused in our current culture.
According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, alcohol is abused by people in almost every age and socio–economic group. In the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse, approximately 10.1 million people aged 12–20 used alcohol in the past month. That is 28.5 percent of this age group. It should be noted the legal drinking age is 21. Out of this group of underage drinkers, 6.8 million were binge drinkers (19 percent).
Alcohol abuse is so rampant that every minute one person is injured in an alcohol–related accident operating a motor vehicle. Teen alcohol use kills about 6000 people a year, more than all illegal drugs combined. However, alcohol abuse is not related to just teens.
Alcohol Abuse
Alcohol is a drug that often goes unnoticed as far as abuse. It is often too easy to conceal an alcohol related problem, until the person is truly addicted. However, even if it is noticed it often gets avoided among the family. There are simply too many people who drink regularly to notice that it is a problem in others. One never really recognizes the person who always seems to have to have a drink. The person will assert they can stop drinking whenever they want, they just choose not to.
Alcohol abuse, as with other drugs, produces some marked changes in a person, all of them for the worse. The person is often angry or moody and usually quite irritable. Their self–respect diminishes and oftentimes their personal care and grooming are neglected. Low to moderate amounts of alcohol increases incidences of aggressive acts, including domestic violence and child abuse.
Narconon Successfully Handles Alcohol Addiction
Alcoholism is not a disease and is in fact able to be overcome. Narconon has been doing just that for 45 years, at a rate better than 4 times the international average. Even if one still believes alcoholism is a disease, the fact that someone can walk into a Narconon facility and out again completely drug-free and in far better shape then they ever dreamed possible is itself a reality.
By way of example, consider one Narconon Suncoast Rehab Center graduate who has been more than a year now without drinking. She wrote the following, "I want to thank you and everyone else at Narconon Suncoast for teaching me all that you did; you truly have saved my life. Before arriving at Narconon Suncoast, I was afraid that I was going to die due to alcohol related causes, either by an accident, alcohol poisoning, or another seizure. I also was scared that I might develop what is known as wet brain. I really wanted to quit drinking, and had made many sincere attempts to do so, but sooner or later I would drink again." Prior to Narconon, this graduate had been to numerous other alcohol and drug rehab programs, all in an attempt to become and remain sober. She finally made it to the point where all she could do was to consider dying as a solution to her alcohol problem. Fortunately, she found Narconon.
"Thankfully, to the excellent staff and the program of study that is taught at Narconon Suncoast, I think with much better reasoning skills. In the ways that matter, I′m much better.
"While at Narconon Suncoast, I was given the necessary help and guidance to start repairing the two most important relationships in my life, my relationship with my son, and my relationship with myself. Due to my horrible behavior while drunk, I was ruining my relationship with my son. He was losing any faith he had left in me, with each relapse."
Part of the Narconon program is helping the person to repair the damaged relationships with family and friends. In doing so, the above graduate was able to do this with her son, and her son wrote, "Mom, I am so proud of how far you have come over the last year, not just in terms of your sobriety, but as a person too. And I am so happy to have you back. Love, Your Son".
What Narconon Can do for a Person
What does the Narconon program do for an individual? This is best described in a graduate's own words after completing the Narconon program:"These days I like myself more. I'm thinking clearer. I have hope again for my future! I'm smiling and laughing more.
"I know that I am so fortunate to have been able to attend a rehab as excellent as Narconon. There have been circumstances that have occurred since I have been home, that in the past surely would have set me off, in the very least desiring a drink, and most likely getting drunk. Had I not learned what information is contained in Book 5 of the Narconon program, I believe I definitely would have gotten drunk.
"Thank you very much for teaching me how to live. And, thank you very much for wanting to help people like me – people with addiction problems. You see our worth, even though we don't, and much of society doesn't either.
"There is a good chance I would not even be alive if not for Narconon Suncoast, or if alive, surely I'd still be drinking and miserable. Narconon will always have my gratitude and loyalty, I promise. I know I was a jerk in the beginning, I was still sick, but I did grow to love Narconon Suncoast. Love, C.L."
