Narconon Executive Director Attends 2013 National RX Drug Abuse Summit To End RX Drug Abuse

Clearwater, FL – Narconon East US Executive Director, Yvonne Rodgers was one of nearly 900 attendees at the 2013 National RX Drug Abuse Summit in Orlando, FL this week. Representatives from national, state and local government agencies, community coalitions, law enforcement, treatment and prevention specialists and concerned individuals gathered at the three day conference to discuss creating a coordinated effort to handle the national prescription drug abuse epidemic.

The number of U.S. prescription drug abuse deaths now surpassing the number of driving fatalities. These statistics brought Summit attendees to agree that a coordinated national awareness campaign, similar to the multi-faceted campaigns used to bring down the auto fatalities in the US, was urgently needed to halt the destruction presently being caused by this nationwide epidemic. The awareness campaign would target consumers and professionals.

Recommendations were voiced that such a campaign needs to be flanked by Industry and legislative reforms. These reforms would cover better enforcement of existing laws, insurance and healthcare fraud controls, and improved treatment options. First Narconon Program Graduate Celebrates Narconon’s 47th Anniversary in Drug Rehab

Clearwater, FL – Gordon Weinand, a graduate of the first Narconon drug rehab program delivered in an Arizona state prison in 1966, celebrates Narconon’s 47^th Anniversary and his 47^th year of living drug free.

“Narconon’s 47^th anniversary tribute would not be complete without sharing some of the story of its unique founder and my best friend, William Benitez,” says Weinand

Benitez tells of his struggles to get clean and his search for a successful recovery 47 years ago that is still relevant to the millions who are still searching for answers today. He started smoking post when he was 13 and went on to injecting opium and other drugs when he was about fifteen.

“… I carried the monkey for about eighteen years, and it cost me thirteen calendar years of being locked up. Founded in 1966 by William Benetiz, a heroin addict in an Arizona State Prison, the humble program has expanded to an international scale comprising 40 countries on 6 continents Since 1995, more than 34,000 thousand students have graduated the three to four month holistic, drug-free Narconon program.

Narconon of Georgia Rolls Out Next Step of 2013 Drug Awareness Campaign

Norcross, GA – Narconon of Georgia announced today that they are providing free drug information pieces to health care practitioners as the next step of their 2013 Drug Awareness Campaign. These drug information pieces are designed for public display in waiting rooms of practitioners’ offices. To date, thousands of drug education brochures have been sent to chiropractic offices, medical offices and other health care practitioner offices, and there are still more orders to fill.

“We have patients with family members who are substance abusers. Often families aren’t educated on the ramifications of the drug(s) their family member is taking and don’t realize the seriousness of the problem. Education is the first step. We are also handing out these brochures to parents, so they can educate their children and prevent them from using drugs in the first place. So far, the response to these educational pieces has been positive and we plan to continue to provide these to our clients,” reported a local Chiropractic office.

Narconon Louisiana Commended by President Narconon International For Five Years Expansion

By resolution 42/112 of 7 December 1987, the General Assembly decided to observe 26 June as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as an expression of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse. Narconon Freedom Center Of Michigan Sponsors Drug Education In Schools

Narconon Freedom Center In Michigan Seeks Additional Certification With C.A.R.F.

Suncoast Rehabilitation Center Joins Friends of Narconon Sponsoring More Drug Education

Friends of Narconon, Changing Minds – Saving Lives, have prepared a Truth About Drugs DVD series that includes an Educator’s Guide for teachers. The kit contains a booklet of lesson plans and four DVD about drugs. The Drug Education program is designed to provide young people with the true and correct educational materials about drugs so that they can make-up their own mind to stay away from them.
