Effective Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs
When looking for an Alcohol Rehab program for yourself or a loved one, there are thousands of models to choose from. In America, the most popular form of help is 12 Step meetings, followed by group therapy and 28-day in-patient programs. The majority of these programs of these programs are based on the idea that alcoholism is indeed a disease and the alcoholic is ill, dependent and weakened by his addiction. Programs where addicts are made to talk in group about their personal problems and continually admit that they are powerless may work for some addicts, but the majority of these alcoholics relapse and find themselves looking for help once again.
Narconon's Alcohol Rehabilitation Program is based on the principle that our clients are not ill, they may have physical and mental issues to deal with which have been exacerbated by their consumption of alcohol, but they are not suffering from a disease. Narconon believes that alcoholics are strong, independent people who have not learned how to properly handle life's stressful and overpowering problems and that they turned to alcohol to help them cope, where they themselves could not. The social education model that Narconon uses to teach addicts life-solving skills coupled with the unique sauna detoxification program that helps cleanse the body of accumulated toxins, has created a 75% recovery rate for all forms of addiction. The success rate comes from handling the physical and mental addiction to alcohol and giving the person effective an approach that he can use to handle whatever life challenges him with.
There is hope and the main reason there is, is because we know that people are strong and resilient and can learn to make positive, productive choices and lead drug and alcohol free lives again!
The Narconon Alcohol Rehabilitation Program is a long-term residential program that allows each participant to take the time needed to handle their individual issues and make sure that they are ready to go out and take back their lives from the bottle. There is no better feeling than knowing you are in control of your life and can go out and meet their goals and restore their lives.
Permanent Alcohol Recovery
Below is a poignant testimonial from a recent graduate of the Narconon program who is 48 years old and had been drinking since he was 12.
"When I arrived at Narconon all I could think about was that I wanted to recover from this horrible disease that had taken over my life. I had lost my wife, 2 beautiful kids and a 32-person construction company. All of those things had happened in the last 3 years. I had started drinking beers the summer I turned 12, when I started to work helping out at my uncle's roofing company. That continued through junior high and into high school and then college really opened the door to learning how to really consume more and more alcohol. When I first started my company I only drank on weekends because I was working so much during the week, but as we grew and I could cut back to a 45 hour week and had foremen who handled the crews I could go to happy hour every night if I wanted. That's where I met my wife and she and I consumed the normal, acceptable amounts of alcohol at dinners, parties and of course wine festivals. In1996 my company was awarded a contract to remodel and build-out of one of the best known wineries in the Sonoma Valley and boy, were they happy to find out that we enjoyed fine wines! We had cases of their best vintage and I never thought that sharing 2 bottles a night with my wife was a problem. When she became pregnant with our first baby, she quit drinking, but I continued to keep up the pace for both of us. Next phase was when I met our new neighbor who was a collector of scotch and a weekend Meth-amphetamine and cocaine user. While I tried the cocaine, the real drug for me was hard alcohol. I hit the hard stuff with regularity to get me through my days. If alcoholism was a disease, I'd say I first contracted it at the 7-Eleven cooler case at age 16 with my fake ID, was then re-infected in1997 in Sonoma and then caught the plague in 2002. By late 2010,I had gotten 3 DUI's gone to over 1000 AA meetings and I was in need of long-term residential alcohol rehab.
While I came to Narconon to overcome my drinking disease, I found that they didn't treat those diseases here. They didn't care about my genetic alcoholic tendencies or even who made we start drinking. They treated me and my lack of confronting life's problems and unwillingness to help or be helped. What a difference it made to examine my beliefs and find the root of my unhappiness and begin to repair my life for real. Alcohol treatment at Narconon didn't mean trying to control me with other medications like several programs I had gone to before, it meant me learning to control my life and become the courageous person I had once been, before I drank. I became the person who could apologize to my wife and kids and truly start again, knowing that my life would become whole. I had the tools to be sober and live an incredible life. When they speak of holistic, individualized care to get you over your addiction, they mean "whole" care. There wasn't any area of my life that didn't get handled. I got my life back! I am not powerless. I can and DID beat the bottle! Thank you Narcconon!" J.D.
Alcohol Rehabilitation that Empowers
When looking for an Alcohol Treatment program, look for one that leaves the addict empowered and recovered. Being continuously "in recovery" versus being recovered from alcohol addiction, leaves the door open for relapse. It leaves the alcoholic fearing his next relapse. This can open the door to the onset of unnecessary anxiety issues. True alcohol rehabilitation creates a confident person, who can master even the most challenging environment. The Narconon program allows students to free themselves of their current unhappiness and depressions.
For over 45 years Narconon has been curing alcohol addiction. The number one reason Narconon clients cite as helping them overcome their addiction is that Narconon counselors expect them to be sober and expect them to leave the program leading alcohol and drug-free lives and empower each participant to do so. From the beginning they are treated with the encouragement and respect they need to become sober. The graduates of the Narconon Alcohol Rehabilitation Program know that they are in charge of their lives and can write their own plan for a sober and productive life.
